Dr Dutta was the consultant for my hernia repair operation which was self funded. On first contacting the hospital, I was informed of the fees. This helped me to make the decision to go ahead. The first consultation was very helpful and informative. There was no hint of rush or time limit. An early date was set for the operation with appointments for pre-op checks and a Covid test. All this was carried out in a thorough manner. On the day of the operation I went to theatre early and was back in the ward room for mid morning. Whilst at that time I was very sore and with some discomfort, I had no undue pain. A very well presented light lunch was served which I could only partially do justice to, because of the mouth and throat drying effects of the anaesthetic. At 4.00pm I was discharged and able to walk (a wheelchair was offered) down to reception, where I was collected by car. At home it was realised that there was considerable bruising but no other effects round the wounds. For one week I took one ibuprofen tablet per day, just to take the "edge" off the discomfort. After one week, all discomfort had gone. After two weeks most of the bruising had gone. When the dressings were removed, there was almost no evidence of the very tiny incisions. The six-week follow up by Dr Dutta was confirmation of a very tidy job well done. Thank-you Woodthorpe Hospital and Staff.

An experienced multi skilled surgeon with a very warm and caring personality who at assessment meetings puts patients completely at ease by making time to listen intently and fully explain the intended procedures, including post op treatment. Sam makes you feel that your procedure is genuinely and personally important to him and unlike many other surgeons is not 'just another job' I had three hernias repaired at the Woodthorpe Hospital, Nottingham - using the keyhole technique - was discharged the same day - was back at work three days later - needed no pain relief - so one very happy patient! Strongly recommend this surgeon.

This was the first operation I have ever had in my life and I am 62 years old.I had an operation for an Hernia and everything went great and I was kept fully informed before and after. Mr Dutta was recommended to me by a friend and I am very grateful he recommended Mr Dutta. Mr Dutta is a very caring understanding doctor and a highly skilled surgeon. He answered all mine and my families queries regarding my operation. I have had two different operations under Mr Dutta and His explanation of the procedures was easy for me to understand what would be happening before, during and after.
